Two time Formula One World Champion Fernando Alonso has commissioned a 60 Sunreef Power from Sunreef’s Eco range. The contract was signed on 1st September at the Yacht Club de Monaco by Alonso and Sunreef Yachts’ Founder Francis Lapp.

Equipped with the shipyard’s composite-integrated photovoltaic system and the industry’s lightest batteries, this yacht offers emission-free cruising using electric propulsion powered by the natural elements in silence and luxury. Alonso’s yacht will be the first 60 Power Eco built and will be constructed to meet his personalised specification, as with all Sunreef yachts.
Sunreef’s impressive reputation and the space and lifestyle that a catamaran gives you meant it was a no brainer for Alonso to commission a yacht with Sunreef, as this was the shipyard that “matched all my requirements in terms of space, catamaran expertise, lifestyle and luxury”.
Alonso opted for a yacht from the Eco range as he wanted to follow the direction of sustainability and encourage others to do the same, and notes that “The world is going electric and yachts should follow”. This will be Alonso’s first yacht and he hopes to cruise around the south of France and French Riviera with family and friends, and says it was important to have a reliable yacht so he can use the yacht and go to sea spontaneously.
