We hope you are all well and staying safe during these challenging times. We reach you from a very snowy UK office wishing for warmer times and climates, and some sailing!
I am sure we are not the only ones who had hoped the new year would bring a return to some normality, and although there seems to have been a slight delay in its return, we remain positive, optimistic and ready for 2021.
Meet the Team
January has been a busy month at S6 Marine and we started the new year rested, relaxed and raring to go. The first day back after the Christmas holidays saw Karolina and Perry join the team in Multihull Sales and Monohull Sales respectively. It is incredibly exciting to be working with two high calibre individuals and we are looking forward to seeing what they bring to the team. You will probably have already heard from them, depending on the type of yachts you are interested in, but if not feel free to reach out.
Our Managing Director, Matt, will continue to oversee both Multihull and Monohull sales and brokerage but will now direct more of his time to the yachts that are signed and the build process, allowing him to focus his knowledge and experience where its needed most to ensure the absolute best yachts possible leave the shipyard for each and every one of our clients.
The most recent addition to our growing team is Olivia. Olivia has joined us as an Office Assistant and handles everything from social media to our web-shop and is on-hand to deal with general requests and enquires. At present, she is tasked with re-organising and re-ordering the web-shop so it is easier and more efficient for our clients to use. Our web-shop consists of everything and anything you might need for your new yacht and is designed to make the process of yacht purchase even smoother. Effectively, the boat is completely decked-out and ready to use at the handover stage.
Travel restrictions have impacted our international team, however. With Karolina in Poland, Matt currently in Florida, Perry in Cambridge and Olivia in Southend, Zoom has become our best friend and host to team meetings that would normally take place at our headquarters. We have also had to adapt the way we communicate with our clients and are thankful for the technology that allows us to connect with them at any time and from any location. Although we are grateful for this technology, we long for a return to live interactions and meetings with clients and yachts.
Looking ahead to 2021
The normal “Sailing Season” is due to start in April/May but this is no normal year, as we all know. So plans, hope and boats are all over the place and as far as we can tell the following is due to happen:
It appears the Palm Beach International Boat Show is going ahead between 25th-28th March this year and organisers are working tirelessly to ensure the show is as safe as possible for all staff and attendees. As mentioned, Matt is currently in Florida and will be attending the show, so is hoping to meet as many of you as possible. If you will be at the show, or if you are in Florida more generally, contact Matt to let him know you are around for a chat.
The Palma Yacht Show is normally held at the end of April, but has just been postponed until 3rd – 6th June due to the current situation. If the event does go ahead safely, and organisers are hopeful it will, then the team will be on-hand to say hello and share a drink or just have a chat. Get in touch for more information about the show.
The glamour event of the year so far that is booked in, for Europe anyway, is the Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta in Porto Cervo, Sardinia, in late May – early June. This is closely followed by the Palma Superyacht cup. After this, who knows what the calendar will look like for events and shows of all types and yacht sizes. What we do know is that our Monohull Sales Manager, Perry Carroll, is planning to attend the SailGP event in Italy (if we can travel) to see some of his racing friends. The Italian leg of the SailGP race series will be held on 5th-6th June in Taranto. If you are going then he is keen to meet you to say hello and have a drink.
As for the yachts in the 18m-35m space, there will be some to see at Palma and the rest of the normal brand regattas and show events are going to be delayed or pushed back until later in the year, or do you know differently? We also think that Cannes in September will be a good bet to visit and a great opportunity to meet you all as well as the many yachts on show.
Despite the pandemic, however, the market is very much alive and kicking at the moment- we have seen a lot of new enquiries over the last month, which makes us very optimistic! Despite the limited possibilities of traveling and seeing the boats live, customers are already taking steps to be able to enjoy freedom on board their boat in the near future.
The highlight of this month, however, has definitely been a trip to Barbados to meet the owners of the Sunreef 80 we launched last December. Here, we were able to show them their new yacht as they couldn’t travel to Poland for the handover because of Covid restrictions. We are pleased to say they are all absolutely thrilled by the final product and we wish the owners a long and happy relationship with their new yacht as she cruises off around the Caribbean. Matt is now in Miami where he faces a busy month of meetings and yacht viewings so, if you are in the Florida area and would like to meet up to discuss your next project, let us know as it would be a pleasure to sit down with you.
Regarding yachts and your needs, of course we are here to help you and, if needed, we can help you with a pre-owned yacht and we have a quarter-share scheme operating for three yachts. We have 1 or 2 people committed or keen to join but we need more partners in this.
The latest news is that we can now offer the brands of Y-Yachts which start around €2.5mill and Southern Winds brand which are the larger sail yachts from around €5mill (contact Perry for more information). All this as well as the existing Sunreef and CNB range you are already aware of.
On top of the new build yachts above, we can also offer yachts from our brokerage selection which covers yachts of all sizes, prices and styles. Alternatively, if you want to put the yacht into our Charter Scheme, then we can also offer Yachts from Jeanneau and Lagoon range.
So, what about your yachting plans? Where are you looking to sail and when? Let us know and maybe we can give you some local knowledge and latest news!
We look forward to hearing from you all and here’s wishing you good health and great sailing,
The S6 Marine Team-
Matt, Karolina, Perry and Olivia
